Helping kids stay in school and prepare for life.

Advocate

Why become an advocate? Because we can’t do it alone!

Young people are falling through the cracks and they need more than just schools. They need families and communities who are there for them. Please encourage your colleagues, friends and family to get involved and be the voices that make a difference. Talking about this issue is the first step to fixing it!

By joining the CIS Advocacy Network, you will help us make sure that these issues are front and center with legislators, schools and businesses.

CIS is looking for forums to make the public aware (and subsequently take action) on the high school dropout epidemic. The RAND study in 2006 found that Pittsburgh Public Schools has an average dropout rate of 35%, with up to half of black males dropping out. CIS has had a local presence since 1985 and yet the public is not aware of what we do to help kids succeed. To date we have delivered services to over 50,000 students. The commitment of CIS is  maintaining its high-quality of dropout prevention services while reaching more schools and young people.
